Transformational Coaching is the process where a person identifies their values and honours them by making changes within themselves and in their lives.
The desired changes are defined by the vision and the goals that the person wants to create and achieve in the short or long term.
These changes occur through acknowledging
how one sees, thinks and feels about themselves, considering what gets in the way to achieve the goals and how we want to be and committing to action to make them happen.
The process can last from 6 to 12 sessions and the outcomes are jointly defined and measured by the coach and the person. In between sessions the client is given some exercises in the form of 'homework' to do in order to continue practising to bring about the desired changes.
Therapeutic coaching differs to counselling and psychotherapy as it is a shorter and more goal oriented process.
A life coach is a non judgemental supporter of the person's vision and goals providing feedback and using relevant tools to assist the client to understand what is it they are doing that works and what does not work in their lives on the route to achieve their desired outcomes.
As a Therapeutic Life coach I draw upon various theories and practices including traditional life coaching methods and creative methods such as visualisations adjusting them to suit each client's nature and needs. The person is encouraged to safely explore and come up with their own realisations and solutions of the issue they want to work on.
